"What was that..."
The owl your Ballator was following has disappeared into the dark branches of the woods. More mist and smoke coil through the roots and your Ballator curses softly to themselves. The roots give way, slightly, to a large clearing where the trees look burnt and crumbling. A quick glance around, and your Ballator wonders if something very, very large fell from the sky?
Running through the clearing is a dark colored stream. Cautiously approaching it, your Ballator gags on the smell of sulphur and notices that it’s not water in the stream, but boiling sludge. The clouds overhead part just as a bubble in the sludgey river bursts and under the light of The Red Star, your Ballator sees the mummified bodies of Ballators who must have been caught trying to cross.
Something lands lightly on the other bank of the river. A dark colored mare with glowing red stones adorning her horns. She casts a cold glance in your Ballator’s direction over her shoulder as her feathered wings dissolve off of her back. What little grass can survive by the river wilts as she starts to move away. Something inside spurs our Ballator to follow after her– but how?
This is a Shadow Prompt. For this prompt, please depict your Ballator’s choice: Use the bodies in the river as stepping stones to quickly forge ahead or attempt to circle around it. All rivers end eventually, right?

(Reminder: Companion bonuses will not apply to comics as they are counted by stat grid guidelines!)
